Monument residents wake up to snow Tuesday morning

PLOW PIC

MONUMENT, Colo. (KRDO) -- The road conditions up in Monument got progressively worse throughout the morning as snow fell Tuesday.

Danny Larson a local resident said, “I stopped a couple of times and I slid but it’s not too crazy but it’s a little slick.”

But some Coloradans were really embracing the snow, like one man who was seen outside in shorts and a T-shirt.

“This is awesome, I love Colorado and I love the cold weather,” said Rob.

Although not dressed for the occasion, Rob is actually smarter than he looks. Headed up north to pick up family for Thanksgiving, Rob is giving himself plenty of time to get there. If you didn’t know, the speed limit in the gap project dips to 45mph during bad weather.

“I’m actually leaving a couple hours earlier to be safe,” said Rob.

And it wasn’t just Rob who was planning on taking things slow. With slick roads and low visibility, multiple drivers we spoke to stressed the importance of driving carefully and they really ask just one thing.

Jeannie Rivera said, “Don’t drive crazy.”

While Danny Larson added, “leave a little early, take your time and don’t drive crazy.”
