Broncos to stop playing home games in front of fans after Sunday

DENVER (KRDO) -- As coronavirus cases rise locally, the Denver Broncos said Friday that they will temporarily stop playing games with a live audience at Empower Field.

The football team announced Sunday will be the final game played in front of fans at Empower Field at Mile High this season. The Broncos are scheduled to play against Miami.

"Although we are confident in our strong safety protocols and have no evidence of any COVID-19 transmission traced to our home games, the increase in cases and hospitalizations locally requires us to adjust our future plans," the Broncos said in a statement.

Fans who purchases season tickets can receive a credit or request a full refund by emailing People who purchases single-game tickets can get refunds through point-of-sale.

"The Broncos look forward to welcoming back the best fans in the NFL to Empower Field at Mile High in 2021," the team said.
