COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Springs Fire Department found flames shooting from the roof when crews responded to a house fire at 2510 East Dale Street at 1:45 p.m. Monday.

CSFD says when firefighters arrived on the scene, flames were coming from the top of a one-story house. Firefighters then determined the fire was located in the attic. They cut a hole into the roof to clear out smoke and heat, making it easier for crews to get to the fire.

The fire was contained to the attic, but the rest of the house does have smoke damage. No word on the extent of damage done.

CSFD confirmed no one was in the house during the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
