El Paso County Sheriff’s Office identifies man shot by police at Fort Carson

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The El Paso County Sheriff's Office identified Dean Trasente, 33, as the man shot by two Colorado Springs police officers Wednesday at Fort Carson.

Officers say Trasente is suspected of a road rage incident that happened near Highway 115 and S. Academy Boulevard Wednesday morning.

Colorado Springs police stopped Trasente at the Fort Carson Gate 2 exit. Police say he got out of the car with a gun, that's when two officers shot and killed him. No officers were hurt during the incident.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office says this is an ongoing investigation and the coroner's office will determine the official cause of death.
