Local runners shine at state cross country finals

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. (KRDO) -- Southern Colorado was well represented at the cross country state championships.

Air Academy freshman Bethany Michalak claimed the 4A individual state crown with a time of 17:59.

The Classical Academy (TCA) Titans girls team claimed their second straight 3A state championship, despite being without teammate Sawyer Wilson. Wilson is quarantining after being in contact with someone who'd tested positive for COVID-19.

Buena Vista clinched the girl's 2A team state championship.

Heritage Christian claimed the boy's 2A state crown.

Ella Johnson of The Vanguard School is the 2A girl's individual state champion.
