Colorado Springs Utilities to resume disconnections

utilities utility assistance

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- In March, Colorado Springs Utilities suspended the disconnection of utility services for non-payment in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As of Monday, Oct. 19 they will re-start the processes for disconnecting services.

In Colorado, a moratorium put in place expired on Oct. 7. CSU says they continued to suspend the disconnection of services.

Because they know challenges and financial hardships remain, they are giving customers the option of payment plans. Customers can avoid service disconnection by paying off their balance over a period of time. Payments can be spread over 6, 12, 18 months or more depending on their overdue balance.

Besides payment plans, they are also advertising a variety of programs now in place to assist with utility bills.

CSU says if any customers receive a past due notice or are struggling to pay their bill, they should call 448-4800.
