MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- As of Friday morning, the Incline Fire in Manitou Springs was still reported to be at a zero containment, but we're expecting to get a more accurate number Friday after the fire is mapped from aircraft overhead.

Despite that report, fire crews worked overnight to put out the flames and smoke was significantly reduced Friday morning after the fire started Thursday evening.

Dawn Sanchez, an information officer for the fire, said at about 7 a.m. that it was still burning at about three to five acres.

Overnight crews were relieved by thirty new firefighters, but Sanchez says their biggest challenge today will be the dry conditions.

"One of the concerns is the hot spots that remain in the fires. If embers do come out of those hotspots and blow over into adjacent fuels, that could definitely cause the fires to grow,” says Sanchez.

Crews on the ground will also be getting some help in the air from a multi-mission aircraft with the Colorado Department of Fire Prevention and Control.

Sanchez says the aircraft will be using infrared technology to make a map that shows exactly how much the fire has grown.

The Barr Trail and Incline remain closed until further notice.

Pre-evacuation orders are still in place for the 500 through 600 block of Ruxton Avenue, as well as Fairview.

Police believe a suspected arsonist started the fire and remains on the loose. He's described as a white male in his 40s, last seen wearing a white shirt, grey hoodie, and grey pants.

If you have any idea who he might be, contact Manitou Springs Police Department or the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.
