Man suspected of 2 Colorado Springs armed robberies

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - A man is in custody in connection with an investigation into two armed robberies this week.

Cameron Lee, 22, is believed to have walked into a convenience store on the 1000 block of 21st St. just after 3 a.m. Monday, and robbed a clerk at gunpoint. Investigators say he then tried to rob a customer before making off with cash and several packs of cigarettes.

Less than an hour later, Colorado Springs Police investigators say Lee was attempting to rob a business on the 1800 block of S. Nevada Ave. before taking off from the scene. A short time later officers spotted him and took him into custody. He was found with a handgun and an undisclosed amount of money.

As he was being transported to the Police Operations Center for processing, officials say Lee tried to get away and assaulted a police officer. That officer suffered minor injuries.

Lee is now in the El Paso County Jail. At this time we're working to learn more about the charges he now faces. Stay with KRDO Newschannel 13 as more information is released.
