COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo (KRDO) -- Colorado Springs police are investigating a pair of armed robberies that occurred early Monday morning within 30 minutes of each other.

The first robbery took place at a store in the 1000 block of 21st Street where a lone male suspect, dressed in black and wearing a camouflage mask, robbed the clerk at gunpoint. The suspect also attempted to rob a customer before fleeing the store with an undisclosed amount of money and several packs of cigarettes.

The second robbery occurred just 30 minutes later at a store in the 1900 block of North Academy Boulevard. Investigators said a lone male suspect entered the store and demanded money from the clerk at gunpoint. The suspect in this robbery was unsuccessful in his attempt, and fled the store.

At this time, police say that both robberies are in the early stages of the investigation. Detectives say they will be looking into if both are connected, but said it's too early to make any connection.
