El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s Office warns of false information sent to Colorado voters
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo (KRDO) -- The El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s Office said they were notified that the United States Postal Service (USPS) has been sending out a national pre-election mailer to every household in America that contains incorrect election information for the state of Colorado.
According to a press release from the County Clerk's office, the mailer asks voters to "request a mail ballot at least 15 days before the election and return their ballots by mail at least seven days before the election." However, in Colorado, this information is not correct.
A news release stated that in Colorado, all ballots will be mailed automatically to every eligible registered voter in the state on October 9, 2020, and that citizens do not need to make a special request to their office in order to get their ballots.
Contrary to what the USPS mailer suggests, voters choosing to return their ballot by mail should do so no later than October 26, to make sure their ballot is received before the November 3 General Election.
The County Clerk's office said citizens are encouraged to verify that their voter registration is accurate by going to www.GoVoteColorado.Gov and to return their ballots at one of the 37 secure 24-hour ballot drop box locations listed at this link.
Voters with any questions or concerns should call (719) 575-VOTE (8683) or visit their website at: www.EPCVotes.com.
