COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A man was arrested Monday after police in Colorado Springs found him asleep in the driver's seat of a stolen vehicle.

Around 5:52 a.m. Monday, officers were on crime patrols when they located a stolen vehicle on the 2300 block of Skyview Lane. The officers peered inside and found an adult male who was sleeping in the driver's seat.

More police were dispatched to the area and took the suspect into custody without incident. During a search of the suspect and the vehicle, officers found a loaded handgun, 9.17 grams of methamphetamine and about $4000.

Further evidence revealed the suspect was involved in identity theft and several other crimes. Police say the suspect has an extensive criminal history with three felony arrest warrants. He is also the suspect in a criminal incident and police pursuit that happened recently in Westminster, CO.
