Crash kills truck driver in Pueblo County

Colorado State Patrol

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) - The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a rollover crash that killed a semi truck driver on Interstate 25 in Pueblo County.

The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. Sunday near mile marker 73, south of Colorado City. Colorado State Patrol says a 2019 Freightliner truck driven by a man from El Paso was driving in the northbound lanes of the interstate when he failed to negotiate a curve. The truck rolled over after the driver overcorrected. The driver, who has not been identified, was ejected from the truck and later pronounced dead.

The trailer came apart during the crash, spilling its contents along the side of the road. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, though it appears that excessive speed and alcohol are not considered factors at this time.
