At least 1 dead in crash near Falcon
EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- At least one person is reported dead after a crash on Highway 24 just south of Falcon that happened Tuesday afternoon.
Colorado State Patrol confirmed Patrick Andre, from Missouri, was ejected out the passenger side door and pronounced dead. The three other passengers were transported to a hospital for injuries.
The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. at Hwy 24 and Garrett Road.
According to state troopers, the driver of the black GMC was traveling eastbound on Hwy 24 when they traveled into the westbound lanes, colliding head on with a Ford SUV. He was transported to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.
Alcohol and drugs were not involved in the crash, according to state troopers.
What caused the driver of the GMC to veer into traffic is still under investigation, it is unclear if the driver could face any criminal charges.
According to Colorado Department of Transportation, the westbound lanes were closed as of 5:45 p.m.
