MONUMENT, Colo. (KRDO) -- Colorado Springs police have identified the man killed by officers after leading a chase through Monument and then fired a shot at the officers last weekend.

CSPD said 23-year-old Antonio Mancinone of Denver was killed as a result of the July 11 chase.

We reported when Colorado State Patrol troopers responded to a menacing call on southbound I-25 near Larkspur that Saturday afternoon. Troopers tried to stop the suspect vehicle near Monument, but it exited off the highway and started to cross over I-25 when it ran into a guard rail.

A Colorado State Patrol spokesman said the suspect, identified as Mancinone, got out of the crashed vehicle and unsuccessfully tried to carjack another vehicle. After that, he ran through a field and into an occupied home.

Police say Mancinone fired at least one shot, according to the spokesman. A trooper and a deputy both shot at the suspect killing him.
