COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, local schools are finalizing their back-to-school plans for students, teachers, and staff, as many districts announce requirements for face masks.
Harrison School District 2 tells KRDO they will require masks for all students, staff, and any visitors throughout the day and on the bus for the year. They will release a full plan next week.
District 49 made the announcement Monday that all students, staffers, and guests will be required to wear masks as classes return to in-person work and learning.
The district said that the decision was made with the recent resurgence of COVID-19 outbreaks in mind. Initially, the district was only planning on having staffers wear masks.
District 38 tells KRDO that they will be following Governor Jared Polis' mask mandate, which includes mask requirements for students older than 10 years old.
District 38 is planning for a return to in-person learning in August. Additionally, D38 will provide online programming K-12. A draft plan will be presented to the Board on July 20th's work session, with a final plan announced to the community on Tuesday, July 21st.
The draft plan includes physical distancing protocols, hygiene and cleaning procedures, and potential for health screening. The draft says that the district will 'align with current health department requirements regarding masks.'
KRDO is reaching out to other districts in the region for additional updates.
