Deadly motorcycle accident on Highway 83

MGN

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) — The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a deadly crash that happened on Highway 83 just north of Shoup Road in El Paso County.

The crash happened around 4:08 p.m. Saturday. Troopers say a 2018 Harley Davidson Motorcycle was traveling south on Highway 83 about one quarter mile north of Shoup Road.

The driver of the motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve to the left and went off the right side of the roadway, according to a release from Colorado State Patrol.

The motorcycle went down an embankment where it rolled over multiple times. The driver was thrown from the motorcycle and came to rest at the bottom of the embankment.

The driver of the motorcycle was identified as 52-year-old Christopher Hennessy, from Colorado Springs, according to Colorado State Patrol. Hennessy was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Troopers say Hennessy was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Alcohol, drugs and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash, but it is still being investigated.
