Bart Bedsole

A motorcyclist died Tuesday evening after a crashing into a bus in Colorado Springs.

It happened around 5:20 p.m. at the intersection of Nevada and Chambers, about half a mile north of Fillmore.

The crash involved a motorcycle and a Mountain Metro bus, said Colorado Springs Police in an updated release Wednesday. The rider died at the scene.

He was identified as 32-year-old Johnny Samak of Colorado Springs. Police say Samak was wearing a helmet and that speed was a factor in the crash.

The bus had no passengers in it at the time and its driver wasn't injured.

Police said the motorcyclist appears to have hit the bus while he was going southbound on Nevada as the bus was turning westbound onto Chambers.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information or who was a witness to this crash is asked to call the Colorado Springs Police Department at (719) 444-7000.
