Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo postponed to August
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- One of the biggest annual events in Colorado Springs, the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo, is getting pushed back to August.
Organizers made the announcement that the new dates for the Rodeo's festivities will be Aug. 19-22. Tickets will be available online on June 30.
The rodeo's president, Mike McCoy, issued a statement on Friday saying that their focus on health and safety has been elevated "to the highest level possible," and several steps are being implemented to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 at the events.
"I want you to know we have formed a COVID-19 committee tasked with continuing to monitor and report back on the ever-changing safety recommendations established by the CDC, OSHA, the federal COVID-19 Task Force, the State Health and County Health Departments, City Health officials, and the PRCA. Beyond wearing face masks that cover the nose and mouth, social distancing standards, and regular hand washing, the committee is at work developing standards for everyone attending the rodeo," McCoy said.
Many of the popular events are making returns, including steer wrestling, mutton bustin', and barrel racing. More details about the events will be revealed in the near future.
