Curbside pickup, delivery starts at retail stores across Colorado Springs

Retail shops in Old Colorado City

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- For the next few days, all retail shops across Colorado are allowed to function with curbside pickup and delivery only.

On Friday, all retailers will be allowed to open their doors to customers with full services as long as they abide by the social distancing standards set in Governor Jared Polis' new Safer-at-Home order. For the past month, only retail stores that were deemed essential were allowed to operate.

KRDO went out in Old Colorado City Monday, asking retailers how they're weathering the storm financially after closing their doors for weeks.

"We took a big hit," said Amy Vagelatos, the owner of House of Jerky.

Vagelatos told us she doesn't qualify for any of the government loans or grants because they're a brand new business.

"I just opened at the end of August, and I have no employees, I'm self employed," she explained.

We also found out what precautions store owners are taking in preparation for the full reopen come Friday.

"We have a six foot rule and an arrow where you can place the product onto the counter, and your credit card or cash, and step away," said Vagelatos.

"I think everybody's been taking pretty good precautions as far as sanitizing things," said CBD Life owner Erick McDonald.
