Former Mesa Ridge star drafted into WNBA
Colorado Springs, Colo. (KRDO) -- Kylee Shook is a professional basketball player. She has achieved her dream. The former Mesa Ridge Star was selected with the 13th pick of the WNBA draft by the New York Liberty.
"I think it really hit me, probably in my senior year of high school, that I can do it and it's possible," Shook said. "I think I finally realize that that's how much work it took when I got to college. I was like, 'Ok. I really need to crack down if this is really what I want to do in life.' I would say college is where I realized I could do it and I have the potential to do it."
Shook was a McDonald's All-American and helped Mesa Ridge to a state crown in 201
Shook translated that success into a career at Louisville. This year, she became the Cardinals' all-time blocked shots leader.
In her final season at Louisville, Shook was named first team All-ACC, and was a candidate for defensive player of the year.
