TRAVEL ALERT: Lane restrictions on Hwy 24 near Manitou Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - The Colorado Department of Transporation will be installing signal and light poles at the intersection of Hwy 24 and 21st Street Wednesday.

The signal and light pole operations will close the designated right turn northbound lane onto 21st St./Hwy 24 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

CDOT anticipates all work to be completed by 2 p.m. An alternate route is advised.

Some alternate roadways include:

  • Going north and using S 26th Street
  • Avoiding Hwy 24 and using Colorado Ave.

The construction work is a part of the CDOT Resurfacing Project along Hwy 24.

The Resurfacing Project will improve the 10 mile stretch of Hwy 24 from 8th St. to just west of Manitou Springs. The work consists of milling and paving, extending the turn lane at 21st St. and Hwy 24, replacing guardrail, repairing at least four bridge structures, improving drainage and adding erosion control.
