Couples in Colorado Springs take unconventional approach to Valentine’s Day
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- While many couples celebrate Valentine's Day with roses and candlelit dinners, some couples in Colorado Springs are aiming for a different approach at the popular holiday.
At the Whistling Pines Gun Club, couples enjoyed shooting a few rounds with their partner, followed by a complimentary dinner.
Gun Club owner Robert Holmes says that contrary to popular belief, this unconventional date night has proven to be most beneficial and enjoyed by women.
"A lot of women are nervous about going shooting, but when they're with other couples and their husband, that fear factor kind of goes away."
One couple participating in the holiday celebration, Shawn and Erica Turner, says shooting together brings a new level of intimacy to their relationship.
"It's a great experience, it's a good bonding experience for us, good to train, good to learn from each other, and see how we do things together," says Shawn.
The Whistling Pines Gun Club hosts date night for couples once a month.
