COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The El Paso County Sheriff's Office has narrowed their search for Gannon Stauch west of Lorson Ranch.

On Monday morning, search crews were seen on horses riding along Fountain Creek in the Stratmoor Valley area.

The 11-year-old boy was last seen on Monday afternoon, a week ago, reportedly by his step-mother who said he left for a friend's house.

"The investigation determined we should probably relocate to bring it from a more broad area to a more localized smaller area," said Jacqueline Kirby, media relations manager for the Sheriff's office. "We felt it was prudent to be where we were actually searching."

Kirby could not confirm if there have been other sightings since Monday.

"We're going to go where the leads and the tips take us," Kirby said.

Over the weekend, crews searched a five-mile radius around the Stauch residence in Lorson Ranch in El Paso County.

As temperatures in southern Colorado plummet, the Sheriff's Office says it will delay detectives on the ground.

"You're not going to see the large effort you saw this weekend because we've narrowed that down in the last couple days but that doesn't mean no work is being done. This case is being worked 24 hours a day," Kirby said.
