KRDO

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Police say a woman has been arrested for DUI and vehicular assault after crashing into two empty, parked cars in the Old Colorado City area late Saturday.

There was also a passenger in the car, who was taken to a hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The single-car accident happened just after 9 p.m. as the car was traveling eastbound in the 600 block of W. Colorado Avenue.

Police shut down Colorado Ave. east of 8th Street to Walnut for several hours following the crash. Investigators believe the woman behind the wheel was speeding when she lost control, careened across all lanes, and hit two parked cars and landscaping rocks.

The driver, 51-year-old Eileen Garcia, was arrested for suspected DUI and vehicular assault, police say.
