Father accused of running over child in Canon City charged for illegal marijuana operation
CANON CITY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The man who was arrested after running over his two-year-old son with a truck is facing new charges for an illegal cannabis concentrate extraction operation at his home.
Isaac Bullard was arrested after the death of his son on Wednesday. Police say he ran over the boy and then found his body a little over 10 minutes later when he returned home. Bullard had admitted to taking a "dab" of cannabis concentrate in the morning hours before the accident happened.
After the crash, Bullard took the boy to a nearby fire station, and he was then taken to a hospital, where he died.
The Fremont County Sheriff's Office said Friday that a search warrant was executed at the address where the boy was found in the 1000 block of Natalie Street.
During the search, officers found evidence that Bullard was growing more than the legally allowed amount of marijuana plants, and he's also been charged for possession with intent to manufacture/distribute more than 50 pounds of marijuana and unlawful manufacture of marijuana concentrate using dangerous substances.
According to court documents, Bullard oversaw a 'sophisticated marijuana black market' operation. When CBI entered the home they found more than $100,000 worth of marijuana product, and elaborate hash oil extraction lab, and 79 marijuana plants. The arrest affidavit claims the plants and lab took up more than half of the living quarters in the home.
During Bullard's second advisement hearing in as many days, the District Attorney in Fremont county claimed the marijuana operation was unlike anything their jurisdiction has ever seen before.
Court documents go on to say that CBI found three firearms laying out in the open, and a makeshift bed made out of cardboard for Bullard's two-year-old
Bullard was already facing charges of driving under the influence of drugs, vehicular homicide, child abuse, and careless driving causing death for the crash that killed his son.
The boy hasn't been officially identified.
During Friday's advisement, the judge set Bullard's bond at $25,000 cash only. On Thursday, Bullard was set to get out of the Fremont County Jail on a PR bond, but was quickly rearrested by deputies for the additional drug charges.
On Friday, Bullard's defense asked for their client to be allowed to leave the state of Colorado and return to Texas where he had family, and so that he can bury his son. The judge declined the request.
