Colorado Springs Police announce Valentine’s Day card contest

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - The Colorado Springs Police Department is giving away a giant teddy bear to one lucky kid who wins the Valentine's Day card contest.

The contest, which was announced on Tuesday, calls for kids in the Colorado Springs community ages 3-10 to submit a homemade Valentine's Day card.

Whoever wins the contest, will have the teddy bear (named Ted E. Bear) delivered to their home with a special police escort on Valentine's Day.

How to participate

Address your homemade Valentine's Day card to:

"The Community Relations Unit" and drop it off at the Police Operations Center, located at 705 South Nevada Ave.

Be sure to include the child's name and age, along with the parent or guardian name and phone number.

Timeline

-The contest starts: Jan. 14, 2020

-Feb. 6: Submissions end and Chief Niski selects the top 3 cards

-Feb. 7: Top 3 cards are put on social media for community voting

-Feb. 13: Community voting on social media ends

-Feb. 14: Winner is announced and Ted E. Bear will be delivered to the winner's home with a special police escort.

At the end of the contest, all Valentine's Day cards that are submitted will be handed out to CSPD officers around the city.
