COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Sergeant Phillips with the U.S. Army recruitment office in northeast Colorado Springs says they hope to enlist around 120 new soldiers in 2020.

According to U.S. Army News, 2020 recruiting advertisements will target the younger generations.

Phillips says the majority of the people who come to the Army's recruitment office on N. Academy Boulevard are younger -- specifically, many of them are.

“When graduates step out of high school - they understand that they have no resume experience - so when they go out there and think they’re just going to get this job - they understand that they're not the best person for that job sometimes - cause they don’t have the tangible experience, " says Phillips.

Contrary to what some may say about recruiters, Phillips says Army recruiters don’t push money or our country’s conflict in the Middle East as a reasons why the younger generation should join the army.

“We don’t really get into those types of politics,” says Phillips.

The U.S. Army made their recruitment goal nationwide in 2019 - with over 68,000 new soldiers enlisting.
