Police investigating assault in Sand Creek High School parking lot
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- District 49 and the Colorado Springs Police Department are investigating an assault against at least one student Wednesday in the visitor parking lot at Sand Creek High School.
District 49 and Colorado Springs Police have confirmed that the incident happened at around 9:30 a.m..
"As soon as the assault was reported to SCHS staff, administrators immediately notified the D49 safety and security team along with our law enforcement partners," said David Nancarrow with D49.
The suspects left the campus, and administrators restricted access to the visitor parking lot. The district is also increasing security presence on campus, according to a statement.
The student's condition wasn't given, but Nancarrow said they received appropriate medical attention.
Investigators say the assault was an "isolated incident" and there's no threat to the safety of students, staff, or the SCHS campus, according to Nancarrow.
