Lakewood police shoot and kill armed robbery suspect after standoff

MGN

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. - Police officers in suburban Denver shot and killed a man suspected of bank robbery after a two-hour standoff at a motel in Wheat Ridge.

A Lakewood Police spokesman said SWAT officers arrived at the motel at about 1 a.m. Sunday and tried to talk the man into surrendering. When they entered the room shortly after 3 a.m. the man ignored multiple commands to drop his handgun and he was shot by two officers.

The victim was 52-year-old Thomas Charles Snyder II, who was suspected of robbing a bank in Longmont on Saturday morning. The officers are on paid administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.
