Crews knock down grass fire in west Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Fire crews responded to a grass fire in west Colorado Springs Sunday afternoon, appearing to quickly squash the flames.

The grass fire was called in around 3:12 p.m. in the area of Ethereral Circle and Oswego St, according to the Colorado Springs Fire Department, north of the Old Colorado City area and west of Sondermann park.

The spokesman from CSFD tells us that the blaze is now out, and grew to just under two acres. A total of 17 crew members responded to the scene, says CSFD.

A viewer sent in the following photos, which show fire crews responding and apparently putting out the flames.

The viewer tells us the fire was out within about 10 minutes of firefighters arriving on scene around 3:30 p.m.
