Colorado Springs makes New York Times ’52 Places to Go in 2020′ list
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Colorado Springs has been named the most desirable place to live, one of the best cities in the US, and a hot housing market -- now the New York Times has included Olympic City, USA, in its list of 52 places in the world to visit in 2020.
Sandwiched between the tiny African country of Lesotho and Krakow, Poland, the Springs landed at number 13 on the NYT '52 Places to Go in 2020' list.
The list was compiled by the paper's Travel desk, along with coordination from travel correspondents and professionals.
Plenty of tourists are already in the know about what the Springs has to offer, but the NYT raved about upgrades and new local attractions, including the new Pikes Peak Summit House, the US Olympic and Paralympic Museum, and the recently renovated Broadmoor.
The NYT also gave a shoutout to local chef Brother Luck, who has achieved national notoriety in his own right after appearances on Chopped and Top Chef, and complimented the city's local food scene.
Mayor John Suthers was happy with the announcement, saying, "To earn this sort of honor on an international list, and especially on one that takes into account where our city is in this particular moment in time, is incredibly gratifying and speaks to the momentum that Colorado Springs is enjoying in 2020.”
Only seven US cities landed on the list, and Washington, D.C. made the number 1 spot. See the full interactive report HERE.
