House hit during shootout in northeast Colorado Springs

Bob Smith says two groups of suspects fired rounds at each other about 100 yards away from his home.

Colorado Springs police are looking for several suspects following a shootout between two groups in a neighborhood near Murray Boulevard.

The Colorado Springs Police Department were dispatched at 1:45 p.m. on Monday to the 1500 block of Keaton Lane after reports of multiple shots fired.

While no one was reportedly injured, CSPD says one house was hit by gunfire and there were 15 shell casings found belonging to several weapons.

Bob Smith, who witnessed the incident and called 911, says he was chatting with a neighbor outside when people started shooting at each other in the middle of the street.

"It was very surprising to be that close," he said. "It was definitely people shooting at each other, you know, so it wasn't just someone firing a weapon. "That's kind of concerning that that's going on just a hundred yards from my home."

Smith says he saw two people get into a dark grey or black sedan and drive north.

The investigation is ongoing with no suspects named yet.
