Top 3 Cars Stolen in Colorado Springs

car2

Colorado Springs Police are urging car owners to lock-up their cars after a series of break-ins in the Stetson Hills neighborhood.

Lieutenant Jim Sokolik with Colorado Springs Police Department says most likely, those car burglaries are driven by opportunity - like car doors left unlocked.

Sokolik says car theft in Colorado Springs, however, is easier to narrow down.

“The top three stolen cars in Colorado Springs are the 90’s models of the Honda Civic, 90’s models of the Honda Accord, and Ford F150s and F250s," Sokolik said.

Sokolik says if you drive any of those types of cars, you should never leave your keys inside the car and should consider getting a club to wrap around your steering wheel.

Fortunately, Sokolik says the Colorado Springs Police Department has a 90% recovery rate for stolen vehicles - though they aren't always recovered in the best condition.
