Grand junction man arrested in murder of 9-year-old girl

A 34-year-old Grand Junction man is facing a long list of charges in connection with the death of a 9-year-old girl.

Jeffrey Beagley was taken into custody by police after the girl was found dead at a home last month. Beagley is under arrest on charges including first-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death.

Early Saturday morning on November 9, emergency personnel were dispatched to a residence in the 1000 Block of Hill Avenue on a report of an unresponsive child. When Grand Junction Police and Fire arrived, they found an unresponsive 9-year-old girl who was not conscious or breathing. The child was pronounced dead at the scene.

As a result of the investigation, Beagley was arrested in connection with the child's death. Additionally, he faces charges of reckless manslaughter, attempted sex assault on a child by one in a position of trust, sexual exploitation of children, and invasion of privacy for sexual gratification.
