Marty’s Sunday Morning Forecast – 12/8/19
Overview: Several weak waves will move over the area over the next week. We expect some snow over the high country the next couple of days, but afterwards the chances for significant precipitation don't seem very high for a while. We do expect periods of cloud cover and wind as well as temperatures fluctuations throughout the week.
Today: We're tracking a weak cold front that will bring a mixture of clouds and sun to eastern Colorado and likely cool afternoon high temperatures a little, but we still expect to warm into the 50s and lower 60s for the plains with 40s over the mountains and mountain valleys. We’ll have some wind at times today, and while we do not expect significant precipitation locally, we do expect accumulating snow over parts of the high country where winter driving conditions are likely.
Tonight: Mostly cloudy and turning colder with a slight chance for some flurries or brief snow showers late. By morning we expect temperatures will have fallen into the 20s for most areas. Snow will continue to accumulate over the mountains along and west of the Continental Divide through the night.
Extended: Colder air will move over the state on Monday. We expect that snow will start to wind down over the ski resorts, and it is at least possible that some flurries or spotty, brief snow showers could break out over and near our local mountain areas as well, but right now it does not appear we should expect widespread snowfall over our major population centers so significant impacts to travel don't seem likely. We expect a gradual warm-up through Wednesday, and then another weak system should cool the area some on Thursday. Friday and Saturday look partly cloudy and dry with high temperatures in the 40s and 50s.
