Colorado Springs charity hosts bicycle drive for children in need

There's nothing quite like riding off on a shiny set of new wheels on Christmas Day. A Colorado Springs charity is hoping to make that a reality for all kids.

That's why the Bob Telmosse Foundation hosted a bike drive Saturday at FH Beerworks in east Colorado Springs. More than a dozen bikes were donated, but they need more.

“I think the bike drive is the most important,” said charity spokeswoman Carol Reinert. “Last year, we had over 1,100 bikes and no child left without one, so it's really important to us to try and get a bike for every child in this event.”

If you missed Saturday’s drive, you can still donate a new or used bike at Ted's Bicycles on North Hancock.

They'll be collecting bicycles until Dec. 21 -- when Santa's elves will hand them out to kids in need at a giveaway at the Norris-Penrose Event Center.
