Where to chop your own Christmas tree in Colorado

For people looking to head into the great outdoors and find their own Christmas Tree, there are a few rules you will need to know.

To cut down your own tree you must have a valid permit from the Bureau of Land Management in Colorado. Plus, you must make sure to follow all of the Bureau's guidelines.  After that it only costs $10 and you can visit a variety of forests in the area to find your perfect tree.

You can cut down your own tree at any of the following approved locations:

  • Arapaho National Forest
  • Roosevelt National Forest
  • Grande Mesa National Forest
  • Uncompahgre National Forest
  • Gunnison National Forest
  • Rio Grande National Forest
  • San Isabel National Forest
  • White River National Forest
