Woodland Park to hold vigil for Kelsey Berreth
One year after her disappearance, Kelsey Berreth will be remembered at a vigil hosted by the Woodland Park Police Department on Friday evening.
The department's Facebook page created the event, saying, "It is coming up on the one year anniversary since Kelsey Berreth was last with us. The Woodland Park Police Department is working with community members to put together a Remembrance Candlelight Vigil for Kelsey this Friday, November 22, 2019, starting at 6 p.m. at Memorial Park in Woodland Park."
On Saturday, a "Celebration of Life Ceremony For Kelsey Berreth" is scheduled between 2 and 3 p.m. at Seventh Day Adventist Church in Woodland Park.
On Monday afternoon, Patrick Frazee, Berreth's fiancee was convicted and sentenced for her murder. Judge Scott Sells sentenced Frazee to life in prison without parole plus an additional 156 years.
In January, Kelsey Berreth's family filed a wrongful death civil lawsuit against Patrick Frazee. The civil suit seeks monetary damages for the Berreth family to account for the "infliction of emotional distress" and other conditions brought on by the disappearance and presumed death of Kelsey, but doesn't specify the exact amount sought.
According to the lawsuit, "Plaintiffs have suffered and continue to suffer severe emotional distress caused by Frazee’s extreme and outrageous conduct."
A hearing for the lawsuit has been scheduled for December 5, 2019.
