Preserving our military’s history

Preserving our Military's history

PUEBLO, Colo.-- As most honor Veterans, we are also hearing from those who honor our military everyday.

The Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum is home to more than a dozen historic airplanes and military memorabilia. "We have a lot of stuff going back to World War one," says tour guide Ralph Decker. From fully restored aircraft to those still in the process. All kinds of military memorabilia from all different era's of war.

Decker has worked at the historic Museum for ten years and is a veteran himself having served in the army. In that time he says he has given countless tours and has met dozens of veterans, some of them pilots of the planes that adorn their hangers.

However, Decker worries about this rich history not being remembered by future generations. "We're just trying to keep people informed especially the younger ones that are coming up because that's our future," Decker says.

Saying soon, there won't be any World War Two veterans to share their stories with the younger generations. That's why he says it's crucial for places like Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum to educate the people.

Decker says, "The history is fading but we are doing the best we can to keep the history alive."
