El Paso County Sheriff’s Office warns of phone scam using employee name

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has received intelligence of another phone scam.

The caller threatens the individual they have missed court and need to pay a fine in excess of $500.00. If they don’t pay, they will be arrested. In these most recent cases, they are using the name of an actual employee of the Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to remind citizens that it never calls or sends texts to inform individuals they have an active warrant or have missed court. The Sheriff’s Office will also never call to ask for money, for any reason.

If you have information about or fallen victim to this or any other scam, please contact 719-390-5555 , and ask to have a deputy to come out and take a report.
