Victim of fatal motorcycle crash off I-25 identified, speed a possible factor
The victim of a fatal motorcycle accident Friday was identified as 25-year-old Danzig Herrera, according to a release from CSPD Tuesday.
Herrera was traveling southbound on I-25 at a high rate of speed when he exited at Bijou St and lost control of his motorcycle as he attempted to turn westbound on W. Bijou St. Herrera hit a raised median and was separated from his motorcycle. Both continued southbound until they struck a Subaru Outback traveling westbound.
Police were notified of the accident at approximately 11:46 p.m. and found Herrera dead at the scene. Herrera was wearing a helmet, according to the release. The occupants of a Subaru Outback were uninjured.
The driver of the Subaru wasn’t impaired and wasn’t charged with any violation. Herrera’s toxicology results have not yet been released and will determine if impairment was a factor, police say.
