Colorado Springs man killed in fatal rollover near Pueblo, passenger injured

Colorado State Patrol is investigating a single vehicle rollover accident on I-25 that left one man dead and a woman injured Tuesday morning.

Troopers responded to the crash at 6:03 a.m. on I-25 approximately one and a half miles north of Pueblo.

A 2005 Ford Escape was traveling southbound on I-25 when it ran its driver’s side tires off the left side of the road. The Ford corrected back onto the roadway and began to rotate counterclockwise before running off the right side of the road and overturning two and a half times.

The driver, identified as 31-year-old Cimone Hill of Colorado Springs, was thrown from the vehicle and transported to Parkview Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The passenger, 30-year-old Tara Saunders also of Colorado Springs, suffered moderate injuries and transported to Parkview Medical Center. She was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.

State Patrol is awaiting toxicology results to determine if alcohol or drug use may have been factors in the crash.
