Family of murder victim still searching for answers nine years later

A Colorado Springs family is still searching for answers after their loved one was shot and killed nearly a decade ago. Stephan Wilson is one of dozens of victims whose cases have yet to be solved in the Springs.

As the sun set at Memorial Park, Wilson’s family released 42 balloons into the air in honor of his 42nd birthday.

Wilson’s sister Michelle Wilson-Friday will never forget the joy her brother brought to this world. “He was amazing, he had a huge heart, big smile,” Michelle said. “He is truly missed.”

It was nine years ago on October 1st, 2010 when Stephan was found murdered in his Rockrimmon condominium. It’s a scene Michelle remembers all too vividly.

“I’ve never felt heartbreak like that before,” she said. “I could just really feel the physical pain of my heart. Literally just crumbling into a thousand different pieces.”

To this day, the family has never learned who murdered Stephan or even why.

“We really did not think that in nine years we would still be sitting here without any answers,” Michelle said.

There have been some new leads but unfortunately they have yet to lead to anyone.

“It doesn’t get easier, we just learn how to deal with it. We learn how to cope.”

However, the family’s faith keeps them moving forward, praying one day they will get answers and find some peace. “We have to have faith. We have to have hope and that’s what keeps us going and I know that’s what I’ve held onto,” Michelle said.

The Wilson family encourages anyone with information on this case to call police. They believe the person behind Stephan’s murder is still out there.
