Friends identify man killed in shooting near Colorado Springs car wash

Friends have identified the man who was fatally shot Monday afternoon near a car wash in downtown Colorado Springs.

Nick Anderson, also known as Nikko Alan, was killed by a yet-to-be-identified suspect just around 4 p.m. in the 500 block of S. Nevada Ave.

Anderson was a well-known tattoo artist in Colorado Springs, and his family says he had a child on the way with his wife. He also has two sons and two daughters, according to a post on Facebook by one of his friends.

A witness told us Monday that Anderson appeared to be arguing with the suspect just moments before the shooting occurred. Then the suspect took off in a red SUV.

Police say the suspect hit an unmarked police cruiser that was responding to the shooting call. That crash caused the cruiser to flip onto its side, and the suspect fled back to the area of the shooting, where he was caught by officers.

The witness described the suspect as a thin black man in his 50s.

A Gofundme page has been set up to help Anderson’s family. You can donate here.

We’re working on getting more details on this story, and we expect the autopsy report and the suspect’s name to be released Wednesday. Check back for updates.
