Pueblo police investigating after body found in burning car

Pueblo police were called to the scene of a burning vehicle and ended up finding a body inside of it Monday morning near Lake Ave. and Pueblo Boulevard.

According to our partners at the Pueblo Chieftain, officers went to a vacant lot behind the Pueblo Greyhound Dog Track for the call of a burning vehicle. That’s where they found the sedan on fire.

When officers looked into the vehicle, they found a body inside, Sgt. Frank Ortega told the Chieftain. It’s not yet known how the person died.

The person hasn’t been identified, and an autopsy is pending.
