Grassfire consumes home in Hanover southeast of Colorado Springs

A grassfire Sunday afternoon consumed a home in Hanover southeast of Colorado Springs, resulting in a total loss.

The fire was reported on Alaya Way by a neighbor west of I-25 and south of the Pikes Peak International Race Way at about 1 p.m.

The fire chief of the Hanover Fire Department tells us that winds pushed the brush fire into the home and set it ablaze.

No one was injured, but one person was home at the time of the fire and was able to get out safely.

The flames were mostly out by 4 p.m. and crews have since been cleaning up some hot spots. They are still investigating the cause of the blaze.
