Man gets life for killing girlfriend’s daughter in Colorado Springs

David Kevin Lake has been found guilty of first-degree murder for beating his then-girlfriend’s three-year-old daughter to death in 2017.

Bella Ritch was found unresponsive on Oct. 2, 2017, at a home near 3700 Ensenada Drive. She was taken to a local hospital before she died from her injuries, and investigators found evidence of blunt force trauma.

Colorado Springs police say investigations led to an arrest warrant for Lake, who was in a relationship with Ritch’s mother. Lake was charged with first-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death.

Tuesday, Lake was found guilty of murder, according to the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
