Man found dead outside home overnight in Canon City

A man was found dead outside a residence Saturday night in Cañon City, according to a release from the Cañon City Police Department.

At approximately 9:24 p.m. officers were dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of Spruce Court in response to a report of a gunshot heard.

Upon arrival, officers found a deceased white male in front of a residence. According to witnesses, a black or dark colored sedan with Louisiana plates was seen in the area prior to the gunshot being heard.

The man was identified as 39-year-old Richard Fay. Investigators have reason to believe he resided in Cañon City or Pueblo West.

The police do not know if the vehicle was involved, but they’re asking that anyone who sees the car that matches the description to call 911 immediately and to not make contact with anyone inside the vehicle.

According to the release, there are no suspects in custody and the investigation is ongoing.
