Deputies find meth-filled shoes delivered to Pueblo County Jail
A pair of medically approved shoes delivered for an inmate at the Pueblo County Detention Center had a secret shipment of methamphetamine inside, and now five people are facing charges for the plot, including an employee of Steel City Bail Bonds.
The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office says on Aug. 19, deputies inside the jail were processing a pair of shoes that had been brought in by Ronald Rodgers for an inmate, and they noticed the soles had been altered.
When the deputies inspected the shoes, they found plastic bags with about 11 grams of meth inside, according to the sheriff’s office.
Investigators figured out that people inside the jail were coordinating with others outside of the jail to plan on bringing the drugs inside the facility. One of the suspects, Gillian Stromayer, is the employee of Steel City Bail Bonds accused of using free inmate phone calls to “facilitate the transaction,” according to the sheriff’s office.
The other suspect identified in the scheme were Jose Huskey, Joshua Wilhite, and Sapphire Huskey. Rodgers and Sapphire Huskey were still on the loose as of Wednesday evening.
The sheriff’s office says Steel City Bond’s phone number is now blocked at the jail.
