Cement mixer truck rollover at Woodmen and Powers, driver taken to hospital

The driver of a concrete truck has been transported to a local hospital with severe injuries after the vehicle rolled over at Woodmen and Powers, said the Colorado Springs Fire Department in a tweet 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The driver was initially trapped in his vehicle at the site of the rollover, but rescue teams were able to extricate the driver in about 10 minutes.

The driver was transported via ambulance with critical injuries. The name and age of the patient have not been released.

The Major Crash team is responding to investigate. Expect road closures into the evening rush hour. Officials warn drivers to avoid the intersection of Woodmen and Powers if possible.
